My name is Drusilla Capers I was born and raised in Brooklyn in Bedford Stuyvesant. My parents had six children, Being the oldest I took on the responsibility to help take care of my siblings. They have always looked up to me as their role model. I moved out from under my Parents roof at the age of nineteen. From there I resided in the Bronx for a little over two and a half years. Now I’m living in the Harlem Community and have been there for almost 37 years. I graduated from Richmond Hill High School in Queens, N.Y.

I was hired as an employee to work at Chase Manhattan Bank which I did for eight years. Being a single mother I had to really make a tough decision. I felt It was imperative to resign and become a stay at home mom to take care of my young children. A few years later I worked temporarily for Human Resources. Many years following that I went on to attend Global Business Institute taking up Secretarial Studies. I graduated from there and received my certificate of completion. I wanted to further my education but I had to put that part of my plans on holds. The reason was I became homebound for ten years.  At the end of the tenth year I did homecare for my granddaughters. Once they were able to attend school, I started preparing myself to follow my dreams for the goals I set.  January of this year I became a Freshmen at the College of New Rochelle.
